Protection tips

AegisSun estimates UPF visually without lab testing. Exposure times use published dermatology MED thresholds and are estimates only - individual response varies. Not medical advice. Always use sunscreen on exposed skin.

What is UPF?
UPF measures how much UV radiation a fabric blocks. UPF 50 means only 2% of UV passes through. Higher is always better.
About the margin of error
AegisSun estimates UPF visually without lab spectrometry. The ± range reflects real uncertainty from weave density, dye chemistry, and fabric finish that photos cannot fully capture. Use as a guide, not a certified rating.

Boost your protection
Darker colors absorb more UV — navy, black, deep red beat white or pastels.
Tighter weaves block more UV. Hold fabric to light — if you see through it clearly, protection is low.
Wet fabric loses up to 50% UPF — especially critical for swimwear.
Loose fit maintains protection better than stretched fabric.
Gloves and socks count — UV hits hands and feet too.
